Age
Requirement: 10 years or older (no one under 10 allowed to
play). It is important that all players are mature
and understand the importance of following the safety rules at
all time. Waivers: Everyone must have a signed waiver that is completely and legibly filled out. Each field will have their own waiver. Usually, those under 18 must have a parent sign the waiver prior to playing. Clothing: You should wear running shoes or boots. No flip-flops or sandals. We recommend long pants and long sleeve shirts (baggy for best results). You may want to wear shorts and a t-shirt underneath for added padding or to take off your outer garments prior to driving home. Paint: It is biodegradable and washable. "Hits" are normally the size of a quarter or half-dollar so it is not like painting a house. However, you will get dirty running through the woods and active play. But, you should be able to wash your clothes in a normal washer/dryer. Does Paintball Hurt? Playing paintball can "smart" if you take a direct hit. Most fields open to the public have some kind of surrender rule to help reduce the potential of up-close shots. Out of a group of 10 or so, a few may come home with a nice whelp or two - a trophy for most. Getting hit with a paintball is described as "getting hit with a wet towel." You may want to wear paintball gloves or a bandanna around your neck to protect open skin. Boys may want to consider wearing an athletic cup for added protection.

Game Length: Every field has
thier own style of play. However, on
average, games last between 5 and 9 minutes. Once a player
is hit one time, he/she is called "out" for the game and must
enter into the wait zone until the next game. The number
of games played during an hour really depend on the personality
of the group and how much they want to play. Paint Consumption: If players can strategically play and shoot only when they can hit someone - they will have plenty of paint for most budgets. Some find it difficult to control their trigger finger and paint every tree in the forest. In this case, the paint will go very, very quickly. Referees? Every game must have a referee. It is important that the referee is mature enough to manage the game. You should make sure that any field you play at should require all referees to at least 16 years of age. How are teams set? This really depends on the personality of the field. Most organize teams, based on referee judgment and the type of equipment the player has. IT really isn't helpful to separate based in age as a young player can often overpower an older player. If a team of beginners includes an experienced player, the experienced play MUST play down and not overshoot or rotate the entire group to the next level. The referees judgment stands on the qualification of the player. |
Can we bring our own food or
drinks? Most fields will allow you to bring in your
own food and drinks. If you purchase "hot" food from fields, make
sure they have a valid Health Inspection Permit and are licensed to sell
food. Under NO circumstances is it wise to mix paintball with
alcohol. Private Equipment? Most parks allow customers to bring in their own equipment and paint. With paint from the outside, many charge a paint fee per person. Why is Field Paint More at the Field? If you rent equipment, you normally must use field paint vs. bringing in paint from the outside. The cost of paint reflects more than the shell and paint. It includes more intense play time, clean up and costs of maintaining a field. Those who bring in their own paint pay $10 extra per person. That helps make up the difference in paint costs. Stores have no additional costs associated with paint - just a cashier and the inventory. Where should I buy equipment? It is usually a good idea to buy your paintball equipment from a paintball store. You typically can save approximately 10% by buying from a large discount store or on the Internet, however, service and repairs are limited. Make sure you can get your marker serviced where you bought it. Ideally, if you purchase your marker from a store that has a field, you might find significant savings compared to buying from a store without a field. Look for discounts that rewards loyal behavior. |
